4 Months Old

At 4 months old Kian now weighs 14 lbs and 5 oz and is 25 1/2 inches tall. This puts her in the 65th percentile for her weight and the 90th percentile for her height. Even though Kian has roly-poly legs, the doctor says that she is tall and skinny for her age. At her 4 month check-up, Kian got 4 shots, which she took like a champ. We also discussed starting Kian on real food which the doctor said she could start just as soon as she showed an interest in eating. We are going to start with some rice cereal soon.

Since the appointment, we have stopped one of Kian's tummy medications. It has only been a couple of days, but so far so good. Keep your fingers crossed! Kian also had her first cold, which very conveniently happened on the day of her doctor's appointment. Besides waking up multiple times during the night, she handled the cold very well too.

Kian is getting so big...she is smiling and laughing and talking all the time. She is trying to rollover, although, that is proving to be difficult. She loves her new bouncer/walker (see picture below) and wants to be sitting up all the time. She does not like to lie down and wants to be part of all of the action. Kian also reaches for everything and wants to put whatever she can reach into her mouth.

On most nights, Kian usually sleeps 4-5 hours at a time, so we are only getting up once in the middle of the night. We looked back at Skyla's baby book and by 4 months old Skyla was sleeping through the night...not so lucky on this one...
