My how time flies, Kian Abbey is 3 months old. At her 8 week check-up Kian weighed 11 pounds, 10 ounces, measured 23" long which puts her in the 75th percentile for her height and weight. The doctor was overjoyed that she had gained 4 pounds since birth and had a hard time sympathizing with Mom's and Dad's concern over her stomach problems. He increased the dosage on her medication and told us that we have a baby with a sensitive stomach and it will probably continue until she is 6-7 months old. We discussed Mom's diet with the doctor and we were able to add back in some foods (soy, processed dairy), but also had to remove nuts (no more peanut butter) and these changes have seemed to help. She also got two more immunizations and she took them like a trooper.
Kian is doing an excellent job of holding her head up, sitting up with some assistance (she loves her Boppy!) and holding onto her rattle for a short period of time. We get lots of smiles now, although they have been hard to capture in pictures. She also seems to anticipate certain events, like feedings. She also enjoys napping in her swing and she loves to watch TV, especially football. She is sleeping in 4-5 hour blocks through the night on a regular basis, which is very welcomed by Mom and Dad. Kian is also learning to like bath time now...we guess she figured out there is no way around it, so she better get used to it.
We have decided that Mom is going to stay home with the baby instead of going back to work. We just could not send Kian off to daycare at this time, as we do not think any daycare out there would be able to attend to her needs. As she gets a little bit older, Mom will return to work and we will feel more comfortable sending her off to daycare. We feel very fortunate that we are able to make this decision and while money will be tighter, we think the benefit of Mom staying home will far outweigh the sacrifices in the short run.
We took Kian to Sears for her 3 month photos and she did very well, although we never got her to smile for the camera. The new picture at the top of the blog is from that session.
Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy...
